Stadtpark

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Vienna, The Empress of Austria
You’re now standing in one of Vienna’s oldest parks, Stadtpark. It’s been a favourite hangout spot for locals since 1862, feauturing English gardens, a wide variety of plants, and bridges taking you across the Wien river. The grand building you see is called the Kursalon. First opened in 1867, it initially provided hydrotherapy treatments, but today it hosts concerts and events. A little further away, you can spot a golden statue of a violinist in the middle of an arch – this is the most photographed monument of the park. It depicts Johan Strauss, the king of the waltz! Even if you don’t listen to classic music, you’ve definitely heard his most famous works, including the classic waltz anthem, The Blue Danube, or his famous Radetzky March! Fun fact, if you go to a concert in Vienna and they play the Radetzky March, it’s tradition to clap along during the chorus! It might seem surprising at a classical concert — but it’s part of the charm!
