The heart of Troyes

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Troyes, Journey Through the Champagne Cork
You’re now standing right in the heart of Troyes—in every sense of the word. Geographically, you’re at the center of the old town, famously shaped like a Champagne cork when seen from above. Locals even call it the “Champagne Cork,” or Bouchon de Champagne. And symbolically, you’re also in front of its most iconic modern landmark: a giant stainless steel heart. This lace-like sculpture was created by local artists Michèle and Thierry Kayo-Houël. It may look light and delicate, but it weighs two tons and stands 3.5 meters tall, 4 meters wide, and 2 meters deep. At night, it glows red and seems to gently pulse, as if the city itself had a heartbeat. Over the years, it’s become a beloved symbol of Troyes—and a favorite of both locals and visitors alike.
