On your right, you’ll see the entrance to the gardens of the Saint-Loup Museum. This peaceful spot was once the site of a powerful abbey, founded in the 9th century to safeguard the relics of Bishop Lupus—later known as Saint Loup. He’s remembered as the brave bishop who stood up to Attila the Hun during his campaign through Gaul, earning a legendary status as the city’s protector. Most of the abbey was destroyed during the French Revolution, but the building in front of you survived. Since 1830, it’s been home to both the Museum of Fine Arts and the Natural History Museum.
