This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Troyes, Journey Through the Champagne Cork
Here’s another iconic statue that adds to the charm of Troyes. Her name is Lili, affectionately known as the lady with the hat. She was created by Hungarian sculptor Andras Lapis, who has a fondness for elegant women wearing hats—you can see a similar sculpture at the Hungarian Institute in Paris. Lili has been comfortably seated on this bench since 2011, reading a book about the Counts of Champagne. Just across the street stands the former Hôtel-Dieu of Troyes, one of the largest of its kind in France. It was expanded and rebuilt several times over the centuries, with its last major renovation in the 18th century. Today, the building houses the Apothecary Museum, which explores the history of medicine and remedies, as well as the Stained Glass Center, with 3,000 square meters dedicated to exhibitions. The Aube region holds the world’s finest collection of painted stained glass, so if you’re curious about this beautiful art form, this is the perfect place to explore its history and craftsmanship.
