Shinobazu Pond

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Tokyo, The Phoenix City

Here we are walking along a path across Shinobazu Pond, the main waterpoint in Ueno Park. To your right, you’ll find the park’s most famous section, as it’s here that lies one of the largest lotus collections in Japan. In summer, it transforms into a delicate sea of pink and white petals, hence it’s name: the Lotus Pond. On your left, you’ll notice the Boat Pond, where many swan-shaped pedal boats gently glide across the surface. A little further North, there’s a third section called Cormorant Pond, where you can spot dozens of bird species, both local and migratory. It’s easy to see why this pond feels so inviting: lush greenery, fish, ducks and turtles who all call this place home. Though reshaped over time, Shinobazu remains a natural pond. If you have some time ahead, I advise you to walk along the 2-kilometer trail that loops around it—a great way to experience Tokyo’s nature.
