View of the Lincoln Memorial

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Washington, Where American Democracy was born
Here is a stunning view of the Lincoln Memorial, dedicated to the 16th President of the United States. It stands at the far end of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, the largest reflecting pool in Washington, D.C. You can see the magnificent memorial reflected in its waters. On the other side, you’ll notice the Washington Monument appearing in the pool’s reflection. Built in 1922 by Henry Bacon, the reflecting pool is 620 meters long and 51 meters wide, making it a great place to take photos of the memorial. This site has also been a historic gathering place, often chosen by Washington’s residents to protest and advocate for their rights, both in the past and still today.
