Union Station

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Washington, Meeting its cultural identity
Welcome to Washington D.C.’s main transport center: Union Station. Opened in 1907, it has almost 40 million visitors each year! One of the largest transportation facilities in the United States, there are train and bus services, the metro, and car rentals. More than just a travel center, it is also a popular destination for shopaholics thanks to its many stores and places to eat. And finally, its rich history and architecture make Union Station even more fascinating. Designed by architect Daniel Burnham, the building blends neoclassical and Beaux-Arts styles. Despite facing some challenges over the years—including a ceiling collapse in 1981, and damage from the 2011 earthquake—it is still listed as one of Washington’s historic sites, and one of the city’s most visited landmarks.
