Union Square

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Washington, Meeting its cultural identity
Union Square is known for its stunning views of the Capitol. Designed around the same time as the Capitol itself, near 1800, it was originally part of the Capitol complex before being transferred to the National Park Service in the 1930s. Today, this square features the Capitol Reflecting Pool, which you can see to your left, and the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial, honoring the 18th president of the United States, seen as a hero of the Civil War. This impressive equestrian statue at the edge of the pool is one of the largest in the world.
Beneath you runs Interstate 395, a major highway that connects the District of Columbia in Washington, to the state of Virginia.
