According to legend, back in Antiquity the city’s first inhabitants decided to settle here, as this compact area was saved from flooding. San Polo has been a heart of community and commerce since the very beginning. In 1907, it became home to the Rialto Market, a Venetian institution still going strong today. Alongside its trendy shops and restaurants, the market gives the district a vibrant and bustling atmosphere.
