Christ Church Cathedrale

In case you were wondering, that little church on your right is the Cathedral of the Anglican Diocese of New Westminster. Built in 1895 in a gothic style, it is one of Vancouver’s largest places of worship, offering religious services all year round and occasionally hosting performances. The cathedral is open to public and admission is free. If you’re curious, feel free to take a look inside, and why not join in a mass and sing along with the believers. If you don’t know much about Anglicanism, you should know that it’s a fairly neutral branch of Christian religion, claiming to be both Catholic and Reformed. This denomination is usually present in countries that were influenced or colonised by the English , since the movement was born out of a disagreement between the King of England and the Pope. In the 16th century, Henry VIII, who wanted a divorce, strongly disapproved by the Holy Seat, broke away from Rome and emancipated the Church of England. The word Anglican, in Latin, means of English origin. And it was in Canada, in the town of Quebec to be precise, that the first Anglican church outside the British Isles was founded.
