Canada Place

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Vancouver, Where mountains meet ocean
This long tip reaching out into the water is the part of the harbour known as Canada Place! It was created as the Canadian pavilion for the 1986 World’s Fair. Today, it is a hub for tourism in Vancouver as well as where locals gather to celebrate major events. Vancouver’s Canada Day is held here, it is the country’s second-largest celebration, behind Ottawa’s festivities. It’s also the venue for Christmas celebrations, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day and Indigenous Day of Action. The square is surrounded by buildings of contemporary architecture, such as the large convention center with its green grass roof, or the World Trade Center, which looks like a sailboat ready to set sail. This is also where you’ll find the Pan Pacific Hotel, Port Metro Vancouver’s cruise terminal, as well as Fly Over Canada, one of the city’s star attractions. This flight simulator allows you to discover Canada and other spectacular places around the world from the comfort of your seat. The seats fly, the wind blows, the experience is breathtaking. I’ll leave you to discover the place at your own pace, perhaps choosing a restaurant or bar for a little break to watch the boats and even come across a few sea lions at the foot of the pier.
