View of the Three Cities
This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Valletta, Step Into the World of the Knights of St. John
Usually, you’d want to face Valletta… but right now, the real view is behind you.
Stretching out beyond the sparkling Mediterranean and the bustle of the Grand Harbour, you’ve got one of the best views in Malta: the Three Cities, each perched proudly on its own narrow peninsula across the water.
Senglea, Vittoriosa, and Cospicua are often described as Malta’s historic gems. These were the first settlements of the Knights of the Order of St John when they arrived around 1530. This era’s legacy echoes through the 4.5 kilometres of ramparts and handful of forts built before Valletta itself.
Each of the Three Cities is worth exploring, but from here, you get to see all of them in a single breathtaking view.
