Jouvet Park

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Valence, The gate to the South
This is the Jouvet Park, a compound of landscape and formal gardens. The park was created in 1905 thanks to a generous donation from patron Théodore Jouvet, with the aim of providing the Valentinois with a calm, soothing, green place to wander , just a few steps away from the center of town. Alphonse Clerc and Henry Martinet were responsible for making the park a popular destination for local residents: in fact, it was Valence’s very first public park! You’ll find no less than 700 species of trees spread over 7 hectares of gardens, organized around the monumental fountain in the center. Listed as a Natural Monument and Artistic Site, Jouvet Park is the ideal place to wander through the rose garden, play on the green lawns or take a romantic walk along the canals. A remarkable park now over 100 years old! We’ve only covered a small part of it, but feel free to wander around on your own to discover it!
