Tours station

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Tours, The Little Paris
Not many train stations can brag about having any tourist appeal beyond getting you where you need to go. But the Tours train station is downright beautiful! It replaced the city’s first station, known back then as the “Embarcadère.” It was designed by Tours architect Victor Laloux. You might not know his name, but he’s behind a lot of buildings in Tours, like the Basilica of Saint Martin and even the city hall, and most notably, the Orsay train station in Paris, which, as you may know, got turned into a museum. That’s what it reminded you of, right? Anyway, it’s classified as a historical monument and ranks in the top five most beautiful train stations in France! However, it’s a dead-end station. Once you’ve arrived in Tours, well, you just have to turn around!
