Clock Tower

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Tours, The Little Paris
You’re now in front of the Clock Tower. It enables you to really get a sense of how big the old 11th-century Saint-Martin basilica was. The Clock Tower you see here was called the Treasure Tower. It used to be the south tower of the basilica. It wasn’t destroyed with the rest of the building as a tower was needed, not a treasure, to specifically install a bell to ring the opening and closing times of the market. Later a clock was added, hence its current name. It’s been classified as a historical monument since 1840. You can’t go inside, but at least it tells the time. You’ll have to settle for admiring it from the outside.
