The Card Game

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Toulon, the Historic Naval City
This charming life-sized statue, known as La Partie de Cartes, or the Card Game, features two beloved characters: César and Panisse, part of Marcel Pagnol’s famous Marseilles Trilogy. These plays, written by the iconic 20th-century French filmmaker and playwright, are classics of southern storytelling.
The statue captures the unforgettable moment when César and Panisse sit down for a card game. The best part is that you’re invited to join them!
Take a seat on one of the two empty chairs across from them and become part of the scene. It’s the perfect chance for a unique photo before continuing your stroll through the city.
