Ship Sculpture

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Toulon, the Historic Naval City
You’re now standing on Place Vatel. While the palm trees give this square in the historic centre plenty of charm, it’s the large ship sculpture on the wall that really grabs your attention.
Installed in 1995, this eye-catching piece proudly reflects Toulon’s deep maritime heritage.
It’s a replica of the bow of La Flore, a frigate once stationed in Toulon’s port during the 18th century.
At the front of the sculpture, carved into the prow, you’ll spot Neptune himself, the Roman god of the sea. A surprising and unforgettable detail, right in the heart of the city!
