The Allen Lambert Galleria

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Toronto, Exploring Eastern Canada
While it primarily serves as a pedestrian walkway between the two Brookfield towers, the Allen Lambert Galleria—named in honour of the former Toronto-Dominion Bank president—is a masterpiece of modern architecture. Its spectacular steel-and-glass roof is one of the most photographed spots in Toronto’s financial district. Spanning 130 meters and opened in 1992, the structure’s unique look leads to comparisons of a “crystal cathedral of commerce”. This effect is the work of Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. Known for his organic, almost zoomorphic signature style, Calatrava rose to fame in the 1980s architecture scene. You may have come across some of his other creations around the world, such as the Oriente Station in Lisbon, Bilbao International Airport, or the World Trade Center Transportation Hub in New York. The intertwining arches inside create the impression of walking beneath a canopy of trees. No wonder it is a popular backdrop for television and film productions.
