Viewpoint on Asahi Flame

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Tokyo, Where tradition meets modernity
Here you are taking in a stunning view of the Tokyo Skytree—though, to be fair, it’s hard to miss since it’s the tallest tower in Japan! You can also spot the iconic buildings of the Asahi beer group, easily recognisable by their beer pint appearance and golden flame on top, which the brand proudly calls the “burning heart of Asahi beer”. Yes, that’s a flame you’re looking at… although you’re definitely not the only one having thought of something else. Locals have cheekily nicknamed it the golden poop. Not exactly flattering, but please admit that you can’t unsee it now! To the left of these two quirky landmarks, you’ll notice another tall building—that’s the Sumida City Office, one of Tokyo’s 23 wards. Each of these wards operates almost like an independent city, complete with its own local government and services, all overseen by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. So that’s one of the district’s most important buildings in front of you! Take a moment to enjoy the scenery here along the Sumida River and the bright red Azuma Bridge glowing on your right.
