Tidal Cascades

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Sydney, Through the neighbourhoods
Right beside Cockle Bay, this peculiar fountain was inaugurated in 1988 along the Waterfront Promenade to celebrate the bicentenary of Sydney’s and New South Wales’ foundation.
Designed by fountain architect Robert Woodward, it is seen as an outstanding work of its time and has won several architectural awards. It must be said that its spiral shape is quite surprising!
The fountain embellishes the quay right in front of the imposing impressive Sydney Convention Centre, the second largest in Australia after Melbourne.
Both stylish and elegant, the fountain is considered a true monument in Sydney, and it’s an all-time favorite among children who love making their way down to the very bottom!
