This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Sydney, Through the neighbourhoods

Chinese migration to Sydney and New South Wales began in 1828, and increased significantly in 1851 when gold was discovered.

Originally, Sydney’s Chinatown was located in what is now The Rocks. Over time, residents gradually moved here, just steps from Paddy’s Market, and began to develop this vibrant neighborhood filled with colorful Asian shops.

Right in the center of Sydney, it is today the largest and most touristic Chinatown in Australia. You’ll find many stands offering Chinese food, as well as Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese cuisine—brought here by immigrants eager to share their flavors.

You’ll also find spices, medicinal plants, and Sydney’s largest Asian supermarket.

As a true shopping paradise, Chinatown offers a unique experience that will undoubtedly transport you to another continent !
