View of Barangaroo
This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Sydney, The Emerald City
From the top of Observatory Hill, the view of Sydney’s skyline, features one of its most iconic towers, and also of one of the city’s newer districts: Barangaroo. This area’s redevelopment, which is still ongoing, began in 2012 and has led to the construction of a park, residential buildings, a cultural space, and a casino, which are soon to be easily accessible via a new metro station. This is a truly historic site, as according to archeological findings, it used to be home to Aboriginal communities who lived here around 6,000 years ago. Today, the area has been transformed into a lively district, only a stone’s throw away from Sydney Harbour, and boasting some of the city’s most modern buildings.
