You are now in the heart of Ghirardelli Square. This name might sound familiar to you. As it is a famous american chocolate company, and you find yourself in the middle of their old factory, which has been renovated and transformed into a mall. For your information, Ghirardelli was originally an italian chocolate maker, who first moved to Uruguay and to Peru, before trying his luck in California during the Gold Rush. He settled in San Francisco in 1852. As the Gold search didn’t work out so well for him he stoped to focus on chocolate.A good choice ! Today, his chocolates are the oldest in California, famous all over the USA, and all over the world, as they are part of the Lindt group since 1998. Now you have to do this right and taste their classic,the “Hot Fudge Sundae”, a vanilla treat, with creme caramel, hot chocolate, sea salt and whipped cream. This is what made Ghirardelli fame!. And let’s not kid ourselves, with all this walking up and down the hills, you totally earned yourself a treat!
