This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit San Francisco, The city by the bay
You’re walking along what’s known as the Embarcadero, quite simply meaning the Pier in Spanish. This long artery along San Francisco’s waterfront begins at the Ferry Building, which you may have discovered on our Downtown tour of San Francisco, and stretches all the way to Fisherman’s Wharf. This long esplanade is dotted with lively bars and restaurants, as well as several activity areas. It’s a popular promenade along the waterfront, for tourists and joggers.
