Café Zoetrope and Transamerica Pyramid

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit San Francisco, From skycrapers to fortune cookies
Colombus avenue is the only diagonal street in the neighborhood. It offers the perfect perspective to admire the Transamerica Pyramid. Trust me, it’s much more impressive from this angle than head-on! Despite facing heavy criticism during its construction for its futuristic and somewhat unsettling appearance, the pyramid quickly became an iconic symbol of San Francisco, alongside the Golden Gate Bridge and the Cable Car. Standing at 260 meters, it’s the second tallest building in the city after the Salesforce Tower. Now, look to the right, where you’ll spot the Zoetrope Building. Completed in 1907, just after the earthquake, it’s a beautiful sight with its turrets and striking green color. If you’re a film buff, you’ll be thrilled to know that this is where Francis Ford Coppola’s production offices were located when he acquired the building in 1972. Behind these walls, some of his most famous movies, such as The Godfather II and III, Apocalypse Now, and Dracula, were created and brought to life.
For a deeper dive into Coppola’s cinematic world, and perhaps even a chance to catch a glimpse of the man himself, be sure to visit the Zoetrope Café. Opened in 1999, it pays tribute to him through its menu and decor, offering a delightful experience for cinephiles and foodies alike!
