Netherlands bastion

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Saint-Malo, All hands on deck !
This bastion was built after a section of the rampart wall collapsed. It was named “Netherlands Bastion” because, during its construction, Saint-Malo was at war with the Netherlands. Rather simple, right? To show gratitude to the people of Saint-Malo for their role in defending the country, the governor of Brittany generously gifted them a large number of cannons. Luckily, nowadays, there’s no need to worry about attacks. You can fully enjoy your stroll along the ramparts and capture some stunning views from the Bastion. With the beach, the islands, and the ocean in sight, what more could you ask for?
