Môle des Noires Lighthouse

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Saint-Malo, All hands on deck !
Head down to Môle des Noires beach, a cozy spot sheltered from the wind, right at the foot of the city. From here, you can admire Saint-Malo from a distance, all the way to the tip of the pier. The seawall is 500 meters long. Its name “Mole des Noires”, roughly translating to “black pier”, comes from the color of the rocks it’s standing on. It’s an extension of the ramparts, leading you to the lighthouse of the same name. The lighthouse you see today isn’t the original one from 1838. The German army destroyed it in 1944, but a new tower was built and lit up in 1959. Either way, the end of the pier offers the most breathtaking view of the fortified city.
