Nowadays, you’ll need to check tide schedules on dedicated websites. But if the weather’s good and you’re up for it, definitely check out the view of Saint-Malo from Grand Bé. It’s a unique perspective of the city from this small islet that connects to land like a peninsula at low tide. While you’re there, you can even pay your respects to Chateaubriand, as it’s where he is buried. If visiting Grand Bé isn’t possible (hey, it happens in Saint-Malo), stick to the ramparts and keep following the itinerary without venturing onto the beach.
