Historial Jeanne d’Arc

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Rouen, Normandy’s number-Rouen on the Seine
Rouen could have easily founded a museum to honor Joan of Arc, recounting her life with classic artwork and a few collector’s items. But given her extraordinary story, the city felt it could do better. And so it did! The Norman capital built the largest site dedicated to this remarkable French heroine whose life was extraordinary, yet tragically cut short. Introducing the Historial Jeanne d’Arc. Housed in the Archbishop’s Palace since its opening in 2015, this innovative museum invites you to discover the life of Joan of Arc through a two-part interactive experience. Visitors are first transported back to the 15th century to witness her conviction and appeal trial that took place 25 years later. In the next part, they learn how this girl rose to become a symbol and a global legend. Bringing together history, technology and art over an area of 1,000 m², this museum takes you on an immersive journey that’s not to be missed.
