Foirail Gardens
This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Rodez, The Old Historic City
Welcome to the Foirail Garden, one of the largest green spaces in Rodez. Its name recalls its original purpose: as early as the 17th century, fairs and livestock markets were held here, in the middle of a vast area shaded by elm trees. Up until the early 20th century, this was a vital economic hub for the city and the whole region. Today, the Foirail stretches over three hectares and has been completely redesigned to serve as a true green lung just a short walk from the cathedral. The garden is laid out in three distinct areas: a wooded section at the entrance, a children’s playground, and a quieter, shaded grove. With picnic spots, flower-lined paths, and plenty of benches, it’s a favorite place for locals and visitors alike to relax and enjoy a peaceful break.
