Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Roanne, A rich history of craftsmanship on the banks of the Loire
You are now standing in front of the Saint-Michel Chapel, or the Lycée Jean-Puy Chapel. It was built by Etienne Martellange and belonged to the high school founded by Pierre Coton, a Jesuit priest and confessor to Kings Henri IV and Louis XIII. Coton is buried here alongside his brother. The building was completed in 1626, and has not been modified in the course of its history, apart from its wall ornamentation, which was added in the mid-19th century and comprises a number of trompe l’oeils. Don’t hesitate to enter and admire its decoration and elegant altar!
