Metropolitan Cultural Center

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Quito, Lost in the Andes
To your right, you’ll spot the entrance to the Metropolitan Cultural Center, the perfect place to explore if you’ve seen your share of churches and are in the mood for something a little more contemporary. Admission is free and open to everyone, so feel free to step inside. This building once served as a Jesuit university, but today it’s been reimagined as a lively cultural hub. You’ll find a rotating lineup of temporary exhibitions, a cozy library, and even a small museum focused on Ecuador’s fight for independence. One of the highlights is the rooftop terrace, which offers stunning panoramic views over the city — a great place to snap a few photos. There’s also a café and restaurant inside, making it an ideal spot to take a break and soak in the atmosphere of Quito’s historic center.
