Viewpoint from the Vltava River

25 point de vue depuis la riviere vlata poi grand

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Prague, A baroque city full of history

Dividing the Czech capital in two, the Vltava is more than just the longest river in the country. From its source to its confluence with the Elbe, spanning approximately 430 km, it has breathtaking natural and urban landscapes that have inspired numerous authors, poets, and musicians. Czech composer Bedřich Smetana dedicated the second movement of one of his symphonic poems to this river. The Vltava is surrounded by beautiful surroundings everywhere it flows. And what better place than this stop along the banks of Old Town to fully appreciate it? From where you stand, you can see the river winding through a picturesque setting with two distinct tones. To the left, the predominant green is Petřín Hill. Despite its modest appearance, it’s the highest hill in Prague, rising 327 meters, and home to numerous attractions. Next to it, the more urban hill is Opyš Hill, the home of Prague Castle, and ending at its base with the historic Malá Strana district. And to the far right—maybe you’ve already recognised it—is the iconic Charles Bridge, the oldest of the 17 bridges spanning the Vltava. Here you can capture some more beautiful photos of your visit to the Czech capital—so make the most of it!
