Fernandine Walls

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Porto, A Vintage Soul on the Douro
Stretching out in front of you are the famous Fernandine Walls. Far from matching the Great Wall of China’s size, this Gothic fortification remains a striking testament to Porto’s rich history. Built throughout the 14th century, it was part of the surrounding ramparts, a structure of 3 kilometres protecting the city from Spanish attacks. Over time, it fell into disrepair. This small portion is all that remains but it’s been listed as a National Monument since 1926.
