Halles Vauban

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Perpignan, A Taste of French Catalonia
Food lovers, flavor seekers, and curious tasters — get ready, because here you are in one of Perpignan’s most mouthwatering attractions. A place full of color, fragrance, and flavor. Officially opened on November 2nd, 2017, the Halles Vauban are one of the city’s latest culinary concepts — much to the delight of locals and visitors alike. Ever since the covered market on Place de la République closed, locals had been dreaming of a new central spot to shop, chat, and enjoy good food. Now, across nearly 2,000 square meters, over 20 artisans share the space, offering the finest products from the region — and beyond. Perpignan, a gem of Catalonia, has long been known for its rich culinary traditions. The Halles Vauban are the perfect showcase for that heartfelt, flavorful cuisine — full of bold aromas and local pride. So yes, we highly recommend wandering from stall to stall to sample a few regional delights.Try the escalivada, a dish of roasted Mediterranean vegetables. Or pa amb tomàquet, toasted bread topped with tomato, cured meat, sardines, or even grilled meat. And don’t forget what you can take home: artisanal jams, honey from Tautavel, coffee from Toulouges, anchovies from Collioure, mustard from Saillagouse — and so much more. Honestly, the hardest part isn’t coming in but finding the will to leave.
