Let’s turn it up for Jim Morrison, a legendary rock icon. He was the lead singer of The Doors, an unforgettable American rock band that produced several timeless classics. Jim was born in Florida to a stay-at-home mother and a military father. During his childhood, he moved a lot all around the country. He began studying film at the famous University of California Los Angeles, UCLA, but deep within him, another rhythm beat louder… The rhythm of rock music. His musical journey took shape during his studies, as he met Ray Manzarek. His new friend played organ-style keyboard instruments, and together, they dreamed of making music. Soon, they were joined by John Densmore on drums, and Robbie Krieger on guitar. And just like that, The Doors were born. The name of the band came from a book entitled The Doors of Perception. It discussed the effects of mescaline, a powerful hallucinogen that broke through the limits of the mind, and expanded the perception of reality. Jim loved this idea. For him, music was a way to open new doors — to explore beyond the ordinary and step into the unknown. The band and their music offer a unique musical experience, tracing this exact feeling beyond reality. As pioneers of psychedelic rock, The Doors infused their music with hypnotic rhythms, surreal lyrics, and haunting melodies that mirrored the altered states of consciousness they so often explored. Their iconic tracks Light My Fire and Riders on the Storm, saw great success. Sadly, Jim Morrison passed away at only 27 years old becoming the 3rd person to join the infamous 27 club. He was found in his bathtub in Paris, and although many theories surround his death, the official cause was heart failure. Now, he rests here, and his musical spirit lives on.
