France is the birthplace of cinema, dating back to 1895 and the Lumière brothers. But before that, in 1883, a star was born – Félix Galipaux. Raised in modest surroundings, Félix found his escape on stage—in the world of theatre and film. From a young age, he had a gift for making people laugh. Beginning with small theatre companies where he played comedic characters, he quickly gained attention, stepped into the spotlight—and never left it. Before long, he became a household name, and created a series of films and short features, most of them silent comedies. His expressive face and flawless acting made him an international star. Audiences across France—and far beyond—laughed with him, again and again. Today, he is still remembered as one of the pioneers of French comedy. A man who turned laughter into legacy.
