Le Pont des Arts – the Love Lock Bridge

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Paris, From the Mona Lisa to the Notre-Dame Cathedral
What would Paris be without its beautiful bridges? The Pont des Arts offers a stunning 360-degree view of the Seine River, with the Louvre on one side and the Institute of France on the other. It’s truly breathtaking! The Pont des Arts was actually named after the Louvre Palace, which was formerly known as the Palais des Arts, the Arts Palace. Chances are, however, you’ve heard it referred to as the Pont des Amours, the Love Lock Bridge. For years, couples would come here to attach padlocks to the railings. A lock of love, or a lock of fate? Commitment or imprisonment? Up to you to decide. In any case, the weight of all these padlocks became a real problem, and so they were finally removed in 2015, to be replaced by glass panels. Now, if you were hoping to put your own padlock on the bridge, do not fret! You can always do so on the Pont de l’Archevêché or the Passerelle Simone de Beauvoir.
