Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Oxford, The city of the dreaming spires
Look up ,towards the bell tower of Exeter College on your right. It looks as if a naked man, is standing on the roof. It’s a strange feeling, and an original statue to say the least. It’s the work of English sculptor Antony Gormley, now considered one of the leading artists on the contemporary scene. His outdoor sculptures are mainly installed in Great Britain, but he also exhibits in the world’s leading museums. And, as you’d expect, he was educated at Oxford’s Trinity College. For your information, Exeter College’s best-known alumnus is the famous British writer Tolkien. After graduating from Exeter, Tolkien returned to Penbrooke College, where he taught Old English. It was here that he wrote The Hobbit and the first two volumes of his famous Lord of the Rings
