Bank of Canada Museum and Confederation Building

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Ottawa, Setting course for Canada’s capital
Let’s take a moment to observe the buildings in front of you. Across the road on your left stands the Bank of Canada Museum. It was opened in 2017, in a modern building next to the Bank of Canada. This museum invites visitors to discover the role of the bank, how the economic system works, and the history of currency. A fun way to learn more about Canada’s economy with interactive exhibits suitable for all ages! In contrast, you have ahead of you a much older structure—the Confederation Building. Built between 1928 and 1932, it showcases a magnificent Château-style architecture. As part of Parliament Hill, it is now an office to certain Members of Parliament and ministers. Facing each other, these two buildings perfectly illustrate the contrast you can find when exploring Ottawa—and many other North American cities— from colonial buildings to modern skyscrapers now dominating the skyline.
