Auguste Gasparin Park

03 parc auguste gasparin poi grand

Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit Orange, The City of Princes

On your right is the entrance to the Auguste Gasparin park. This lovely green space was named after an illustrious Orange family who owned a manor house with a beautiful garden at this very spot. In 1909, the municipality decided to buy the property and transform it into a public garden. At the beginning of the 20th century, faced with the urban densification brought about by the industrial revolution of the previous century, cities sought to create new green spaces and leisure areas. This was a time that saw a growing interest in improving quality of life, while research highlighted the importance of nature for the physical and mental well-being of city dwellers. It was in this spirit that numerous public gardens were created in France’s major cities. A few minutes in nature can do wonders for your mood, so, while in Orange, be sure to stroll through the charming Auguste Gasparin park. Here you’ll find flower beds, shady paths, fountains, various decorative statues, and even playgrounds. A peaceful spot, where you can unwind after your visit to the city’s historic center.
