Financial District

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit New York, The Towers of Wall Street
Before we reach the tip of Manhattan, let’s talk a bit about the Financial District we’re in. Often referred to as the Wall Street district, this world-famous business hub is actually called the Financial District — Wall Street itself is just one street within it. This is where you’ll find the New York Stock Exchange, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and the headquarters of major American and international banks and financial institutions. Billions of dollars flow through these impressive buildings every day. Enough to make your head spin, isn’t it? The Financial District was also the very first area to be settled by Dutch colonists in the 17th century, making it a historic site not to be missed. So be prepared —there’s a lot to take in here!
