Ce point d’intérêt est disponible en audio dans le circuit: Visit New York, Destination: Brooklyn

Get your cameras ready! This is one of the most iconic views in New York, and surely Brooklyn’s most famous. Lower Manhattan stretches out before you, across the East River, which separates the city’s two most famous neighborhoods. You can spot One World Trade Center, the tallest skyscraper in New York, and the Statue of Liberty off to your left. But the real star of the show is the majestic Brooklyn Bridge, the most iconic bridge in New York City, and one of the most famous in the United States. It’s also the oldest bridge in the city; its construction began in 1869 and was completed 14 years later, in 1883. It was designed by Augustus Roebling, a German architect, and his wife, Emily Warren Roebling, was the first person to cross it. At the time, it was the only way to travel between Manhattan and Brooklyn. Then came its two neighbors, the Williamsburg Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge. Rising 48 meters above the East River, it is now one of New York’s greatest landmarks, offering superb views of the city’s skyline over a stretch of almost 2 kilometers. When it first opened in 1883, it was the largest suspension bridge in the world. Its two Gothic Revival arches, standing 84 meters high, make it stand out from the rest. It’s been an inspiration to artists worldwide and it’s been featured in countless films and TV series. And seeing it all together like this, the bridge with all these skyscrapers towering around it, it’s easy to see why. It’s a sight that takes your breath away!
