Recommended Parking

Parking Central Park, 65 W 56th St

Parking in New York can be very expensive and quite a pain. It’s best to avoid driving in the city center to avoid any issues.
However, if you have to come with your vehicle, expect to pay around $50 per day for an underground parking lot, sometimes even more in the heart of Manhattan. Be careful when checking rates—sometimes the first half-hour is cheaper, but prices increase the longer you stay.
Street parking is also an option, but be extra careful when reading the signs that say how long you can stay parked, permitted sides, street cleaning schedules, and whether parking is available for everyone. Most spots in the city center are paid, and you’ll usually need to pay at a meter, often with cash.

You might get lucky and find free parking in Brooklyn or another neighborhood a bit farther from Manhattan. The best option is to take advantage of your hotel’s parking if available.

Weather

Bundle up in winter, especially if you plan to visit certain monuments where you may be queuing for a while —New York often experiences subzero temperatures, and sometimes snowstorms during the winter season!
On the other hand, summers are very hot, and it may be hard to find fresh air in the city center.
The best seasons to visit New York are spring and autumn when the weather is mild. However, be sure to bring a jacket for the evenings, as temperatures drop quickly.
