The Galleria Octagon

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Milan, Secrets and Treasures of the Lombard Capital
At the intersection of the two arcades is what’s known, for obvious reasons, as the Octagon. Topped by an impressive glass dome and surrounded by allegories of the four continents, this crossroads is a true marvel. And if you notice people spinning around in the middle, don’t worry, it’s an old superstition. The tradition says that turning three times on your heel, planted on a certain part of the bull depicted on the mosaic floor, will bring you good luck.
Give it a try and see for yourself! You’ll also notice that every shop here is decidedly high-end, all sporting the same black-and-gold colour scheme. Even McDonald’s, back when it had a spot here, had to ditch its famous colours to stick to the rules.
