Sempione Park and the Sirens’ Bridge

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Milan, Secrets and Treasures of the Lombard Capital
After so much culture, nothing beats a breath of fresh air. The beautiful Parco Sempione, designed in the English style, offers 40 hectares of greenery where you can stroll and take a break from the city. Here you’ll find wide, airy paths, a basketball court, kiosks, the Branca Tower, Milan’s aquarium, a pond, and a scenic viewpoint that also houses the park’s library. Over the years, the park has hosted the Milan Grand Prix more than once, as well as the 1947 Italian Grand Prix.
The Sirens’ Bridge, where you’re standing now, is said to be the most romantic spot in Milan, a favourite meeting place for young couples. Legend has it that touching the sirens brings happiness and fertility to lovers. Either way, it’s a perfect place to admire the view of the lake from beneath the shade of the trees.
