Museum of Art and Science

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Milan, Secrets and Treasures of the Lombard Capital
This beautiful corner building is the Bonacossa Palace, home to Milan’s Museum of Art and Science. The museum occupies the former San Vittore Monastery, founded in the 16th century. Over the centuries, the building served as a hospital and later as a military barracks before being destroyed during World War II. It was rebuilt after the war and transformed into the museum you see today.
Inside, you’ll find one of the world’s finest collections in the fields of science and technology, including Italy’s very first locomotive, a submarine, and an entire room dedicated to the genius of Leonardo da Vinci. But it’s more than just a museum, it’s also an institution dedicated to verifying the authenticity of art and antiques. Its expert laboratories work to combat forgery and counterfeiting, and they even play a role in legal proceedings within the art market.
