Saint-Ferréol Church

This point of interest is available as audio on the tour: Visit Marseille, The Phocean City
You’ve just entered Marseille’s 1st arrondissement. From where you’re standing, you can spot the Saint-Ferréol Church right at the corner across the docks. It stands out with its bright white Neo-Baroque façade, all elegant and ethereal by the water. The Saint-Ferréol Church, also known as the Church of the Augustins, has quite a history. Even though the edifice itself was built way back in the 1500s, its façade dates from the 1800s. Back in the day, it even welcomed Pope Clement VII and his niece, Catherine de’ Medici, even though it wasn’t quite finished yet! Today, it’s a listed historical monument and definitely worth checking out.
