The Marrakech Museum was established in 1997 by the Omar Benjelloun Foundation in a former palace that is sure to impress.
This palace which used to be the residence of the former Minister of Defence, Mehdi Mnebhi, was completed at the end of the 19th century. It is decorated in a beautiful Moorish style and features a spacious patio covering an area of 700 m².
It became a women’s college in the 1960s, and was transformed into a museum in 1997, offering visitors a chance to discover the sumptuous decorations hidden within. A tour of the palace will take you through several rooms displaying collections of ceramics, weapons, carpets, jewellery and many other Moroccan artefacts.
Concerts, theatre performances and film screenings are also regularly held in the palace.
