The building before you is not only impressive in terms of its size, but also because it dates back to the 13th century!
It was the Almohads who built this monumental complex, which was merely a gateway to the royal Kasbah. The Kasbah of Marrakech is the fortified quarter that once served as a citadel and royal palace complex. At the time, there were a total of 19 gates leading into the Kasbah. The Bab Agnaou gate was one of the most important.
This fascinating and imposing gateway dating back to the 13th century is part of Marrakech’s historical heritage!
